Anyone who has camped through an Australian summer knows the specific misery of a tent holding the day's heat long after the sun has gone. This fan is the fix. A 20,000 mAh battery runs it for somewhere between 12 and 40 hours depending on the speed you choose, which covers a long weekend without a power source anywhere nearby.
Five speeds give you anything from a bit of air movement to a genuine gust, helped by a double three-blade design that shifts noticeably more air than a single set of blades. It oscillates automatically through 45 or 90 degrees and the head swivels 270 degrees, so you can cool the whole tent or aim it squarely at the one person who runs hot.
The light is 24 LED beads with three brightness settings and both cool and warm modes, which makes it the thing hanging from your tent ceiling as well as the thing cooling it. Hold the light button to fine-tune the brightness rather than cycling through fixed steps.
The display is the upgrade you will appreciate most. It shows remaining battery, wind speed and timer, so you are never guessing whether it will last the night. There are eight timer options, and the remote matters more than it sounds at eleven at night when you are horizontal, comfortable and the fan is on the far side of a sleeping child.
A vertical stand and a 360 degree hook mean you can stand it on a table, clip it to a tent pole or hang it from a gazebo frame. It suits summer campers, caravanners, festival regulars and anyone road tripping somewhere warm, and it works just as well in a work ute, a shed or on a desk.
Charge it fully before you wrap it, since it takes 9 to 10 hours to fill and the first thing anyone wants to do is try it. If they camp off-grid rather than at powered sites, this is the sort of present that genuinely changes how well they sleep.
